The Dão river valley has been producing wine since time immemorial, as evidenced by the numerous “lizards” found there, which date back to the beginning of the Christian Era. The Dão Demarcated Region was officially recognized by royal decree in 1907, with the quality of its wines having international recognition. In it, the Sub-Region of Silgueiros (where Quinta de Reis is located), with a sandy soil (granitic) and at an altitude of 360 to 440 meters, produces well-known excellent wines.
